I have no reason to give Harry's five stars except I'm a traditionalist. Every time I'm in Venezia, I stop in for a Bellini at Harry's, use the toilet. and head out. It's always the same. Smaller and more modest than I imagine or envision, the pricing alone let's you know this is a special place. Do I recommend Harry's? Only for myself.

This place has no relationship to the wonderful Harry's Bar on via Veneto in Rome.
For some reason this spot is widely considered a "must" when visiting Venice. However, my two trips to this establishment were both disappointing experiences. I thought the first time might have just been a bad day, but the second one was even worse.
Some of the staff is not merely unfriendly but flat out rude. Yes, thank you, I understand it's not a public restroom. How about for patrons?
The salad and sandwich I had for lunch were mediocre. On one visit I sat by the bar and was able to watch a Bellini being made. The bartender poured what was presumably champagne from a metal bucket and then added peach purée from a plastic bottle. Boom, 24 Euros!
Go if feel you must, but set your expectations low. -

Smaller than expected, but very cute and classic. Must go on a busy night to get the full experience. Or go on a slow night to revel the history without distraction.
We chose both, and on the busy night we met the most random people who we found connection with and the night took an unexpected and magical turn as we all bonded watching the bartenders smash ice in linen to make our daiquiris. This bar attracts People from all over, so the chances you meet someone from your part of the world is high. This was true for us at least. -

This place is a legend in Venice so we had to check it out. The original owner prided himself on authentic cocktails, nothing fancy. And that exact tradition is still carried on today. We just had a few drinks at the bar and though extremely pricey, thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, history and chatting with the bartender. If you do want to get food, they highly recommend making reservations. The Belini, whiskey sour and gin martini were all delicious! Plus you get to snack on olives and chicken croquettes while you enjoy your cocktails.

22 euros ($25 USD) for a 6 oz bellini? Highway robbery! We've been around the world to bars where they've invented their drinks and never paid anything this outrageous. The bellini itself was nothing special. If it was made with Dom, I could possibly justify the cost, but it wasn't. If I saw Cook's in the back, that would be the kicker!
It's a tiny bar and we were packed shoulder to shoulder (the dude at the table next to us literally had his elbow on OUR table it was so packed). They turn their tables over to the restaurant at 7pm sharp, so if you're cutting it close, be prepared to chug your liquid gold and hit the road.
